The Millennium CycleWay passes through Thorpe Acre and follows part of the Trail. The whole network was opened on 21st July 2000 and is the creation of Sustrans, a national civil engineering charity specialising in cycleways which was awarded a £42 million grant to complete the task in partnership with local authorities and other sponsors.
Our part of the network, route 6 or NCR6, is the Inverness-Dover backbone! There will be signs from Rupert Brook Road through the Garendon Estate to Shepshed, via Kenilworth Avenue, Coe Avenue and Garendon Lane (K68/L17). |
